South Carolina Ballet is excited to announce its highly anticipated performances of Nutcracker this holiday season. New this year: Evening performances will now feature live music performed by the South Carolina Ballet Orchestra, conducted by Scott Weiss, bringing Tchaikovsky’s iconic score to life in a way that only a live orchestra can.
This year’s production, inspired by the rich history of the South, is thoughtfully updated for a modern audience. Every scene will be enhanced by our new full set of custom-made backdrops reflecting the high degree of artistic and production standards synonymous with South Carolina Ballet making the entire production more vibrant, colorful, and sumptuous than ever before.
The courtship between Clara’s sister and the Lead Cadet adds an extra touch of romance, making it an ideal evening for couples seeking a special holiday experience.
In addition to the stunning choreography and lavish costumes, audiences will be treated to intricately designed backdrops that showcase classic Southern charm.
