Angelina Jolie Says She Can't Move Abroad Because Of Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie Visits The United Nations

It's been three years since Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie called it quits. While they try to avoided discussing their split publicly, they're both been busy promoting new films and have let bits and pieces of information about their current relationship slip out. During an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Jolie revealed she can't live abroad because Pitt is based in Los Angeles.

Despite having multiple homes abroad, including a castle on the French Riviera and a house in the Cambodian jungle, Jolie is currently unable to move abroad because of the custody agreement established with her ex-husband. "I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18," Jolie told Harper's. "Right now I’m having to base where their father chooses to live."

Jolie went on to say that "My body has been through a lot over the past decade, particularly the past four years, and I have both the visible and invisible scars to show for it," she said, referencing both her messy, public divorce from Pitt and her double mastectomy in 2013. "The invisible ones are harder to wrestle with. Life takes many turns. Sometimes you get hurt, you see those you love in pain, and you can’t be as free and open as your spirit desires."

This isn't the first time Jolie has said the past few years have been quite difficult for her. Of returning to her role of Maleficent in Mistress of Evil, Jolie told People "it was a tough time. I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.”

Nowadays, though, Jolie says she's doing much better. She credits her six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne, with helping her find her "true self" again.
