Jennifer Lopez has a refreshing opinion on life after a breakup.
The "On the Floor" singer, 56, shared her relationship hot take during an appearance on the June 30 episode of the internet talk show Subway Takes, stating why she believes "breakups are not a failure," per People. In fact, the Office Romance star explained why she thinks the ending of a relationship should be more of a celebration than something to be mourned.
"I honestly feel like it's a launchpad into your next best self," she said. "We should have a party when we break up. People should say, 'You broke up? Congratulations.' Because one, you made a decision. Two, it was probably the best thing for everybody."
One reasons to honor the end of a relationship, whether it's personal or professional, is because of how much growth one experiences moving through "heartbreak."
"I just feel like the biggest growth spurts I've had emotionally, mentally, psychologically have always come from a heartbreak," she said. "And that's not just in romantic relationships, that's in work heartbreaks, all of it. It's the only time you dig. You're like, 'What the f--- happened? How do I do this? Why do I keep doing this? Or why didn't that happen? What could I have done better?' You change yourself."
Lopez' comments come she revealed the pep talk she gave herself after her divorce from Ben Affleck. The pair tied the knot in 2022 after reuniting 20 years after their first split and were married for two years before she filed for divorce in August 2024.
