Twenty percent of Americans consume more than 700 calories of added sugar on a daily basis, according to the University of North Carolina. Elyse Powell, one of the report's coauthors, says while this sugar comes from obvious foods like cakes and cookies, a lot of it comes from unassuming products like salad dressing and pasta sauce.
