More Realistic Resolutions To Reach Goal

Did you start your New Year's resolution with the thought that you were going to cook every day and be healthier? Realistically, it's a good thought but very tough to make changes right away. Here are some more realistic goals for food and health. These small changes will be easier to follow through on.

  • Clean out your fridge- Do you even know what’s in there? Probably not and chances are, there’s a can of tomato paste that expired back in 2017 and it’s time to toss it out, along with all that other old food.
  • And don’t forget your pantry- Sure, we think these canned goods will last forever, but spices, as well as baking and cooking staples do expire, so get rid of what’s past its prime.
  • Make something with what you have instead of ordering in- Think of it as “Chopped” - leftovers edition and use the pasta or eggs you have to make a meal and save the money you’d spend on delivery.
  • Have one less drink per week- No shame in not jumping on the Dry January bandwagon, but most of us drank more over the holidays than we should, so move toward being healthier by having one less drink a week.
  • Hydrate- Speaking of drinking, make it a point to sip more water every day, and ditch the single-use plastic bottles by switching to a reusable water bottle.
  • Try meal-prepping- Spend a little time on the weekend getting a week’s worth of lunches ready and you’re bound to eat better and save money.
  • Tackle a recipe that intimidates you- If you’ve always been afraid of messing up risotto or your mom’s famous soup, make this the year you try to cook it.
